Less than seven kilometers from the coast of Rayong province in the east of the Gulf of Siam is Samet, a small island that perfectly combines all the delights of "tropical paradise" with the relative proximity to Bangkok and Pattaya.
Due to the status of the National Park, the island has developed into a resort so beloved by both Thais and foreign tourists. More than a dozen quiet bays and snow-white beaches offer a wide choice of accommodation. From campsites located in the area adjacent to the sea, to bungalows that have all the modern facilities, communications and a high level of service.
The rainy season here is limited to the period from May to July. But at the same time, Samet Island has significantly less rainfall than Rayong Province, despite the fact that the island is only a few kilometers away.
Beaches in the northeast of Samet are better developed and more crowded. If you move south of the island, the beaches and bays become less long, but it does not lose its beauty. The beaches in the southeast are the wildest and least developed. The west coast of Samet is steep and rocky, but it has one very nice beach Ao Phrao, with the best hotel on the island and a breathtaking evening view to the west.
Samet and the surrounding miniature islands are surrounded by coral formations located at a shallow depth, which is ideal for diving and snorkeling. Other water sports you can do on the island include yachting, windsurfing, water skiing and exciting sea fishing.
Separated from each other emerald bays with their shiny white sand, which creaks underfoot as the snow has just fallen, is the hallmark of Samet to attract tourists. While the hills, covered with dense tropical vegetation, located in the jungle inside the island, attract exotic animals. Samet Island has become home to monkeys, many species of tropical birds, squirrels and even wild snakes.
The best specimens of coral are located near the sharp southern edge of the island, as well as near the beach Vong Duang on the east coast, one of the most beautiful and popular beaches Samet. The beach has a diving center that offers diving in these attractive places.
Samet Island was included in Khao Laem Ya National Park in 1981, which helped protect the pristine innocence of this tropical resort. Tropical flora and fauna feel safe here, it allows them to live in harmony and good neighborly relations with man.
There are no asphalt roads to Samet. But this is not a problem, the whole island can be bypassed on foot in 2-3 hours. You can also rent a moped or motorcycle to explore the island, and you can take a fascinating trip around Samet on a speedboat.
