Greece is the official name of the Hellenic Republic - a state in Southern Europe. It is subdivided into 13 regions. Located on the Balkan Peninsula and numerous islands. It is washed by the Aegean and Thracian seas in the east, the Ionian in the west, and in the south by the Mediterranean and Cretan seas. It has a land border with Albania, the Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria, in the north-east and east - with Turkey. About 98% of the population is Orthodox.
