Kos is an island in the Aegean Sea, owned by Greece. It is part of the Dodecanese Islands (Southern Sporades in the southeastern Aegean Sea). 4 kilometers east of the island lies the Ionian coast of Turkey today, the area of Bodrum resort. The name of the island may come from the crab, which in ancient times was depicted on coins as an emblem.

The island has golden sandy beaches, lots of greenery. In winter, you can see flamingos on the island. In the summer on the north coast of the island lay the eggs of sea turtles Caretta caretta. Mediterranean seals live on the southern shore.

The island is a major tourist center. The island has a large number of attractions and places of interest, beaches, including a beach with black sand, entertainment. How to get to the island of Kos:
The spit is connected by sea from Piraeus (Athens), the journey time by ferry is 13.5 hours. Also from Kos by sea you can get to the islands of Crete, Ikaria, Lemnos, Samos, Chios, Rhodes and others.

The island has an international airport. There are daily flights from Athens, there is an air connection with Rhodes.
